As it goes, London is packed with sights and sounds to please everyone, with The London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and St Paul’s Cathedral to name but a few. And no matter whether you enjoy historical sights or you prefer to visit more modern venues, you certainly won’t be bored on a trip to London.
But, how can you see the best the city has to offer when you are on a strict budget? The secret is to do your homework before you go. As hard as it may be to believe, in London there is a lot that you can do for free, and you’d be surprised by how much you can pack into any itinerary while spending the absolute minimum in the process!
While there is no doubt that you can get around quite happily on the tube or the bus, nothing is that spread out, so you can get to most places on foot as well. Therefore, try and plan your day so that you can visit a number of places in the same area to minimise travel costs.

Of course, walking in itself can be a great experience. It is therefore good to know that there is a lot to see and do along the banks of the Thames, with great spots on the South Bank to stop and enjoy a picnic if you want to avoid spending money on an expensive lunch.
